Frequently Asked Questions

We have prepared informative webinars with general information about the conference. Please watch them in Spanish or English.

    Is online participation allowed?

No. Only in-person participation is possible. Presentations will be pre-recorded, but discussion sessions will be in-person. Proponents of abstracts are expressing their intention to attend the conference in person.

    Are hybrid sessions possible?

Unfortunately, they are not possible. Due to infrastructure constraints, only in-person sessions will be held during the conference.

Will all sessions have simultaneous translation?

No. Due to budgetary constraints, only plenary sessions will be translated.

Is it possible to have bilingual sessions (English and Spanish)?

No, since simultaneous translation won´t be available. The audience needs to know in advance whether the session will be in Spanish or English.

Proponents (of tracks or format-free events) and chairpersons are the same?

Yes. If a track or a format-free event is accepted, the proponents become chairpersons.

    What are Regular Tracks?

Regular Tracks are just thematic panels. Regular tracks are composed of several discussion sessions of 1.5 hours each. Proponents of abstracts need to choose one regular Track for their submission. For more information, please check here.

Are format-free events open or closed for external participation?

The proponents of format-free events can decide this. They can be open or closed to external participation. The events are, however, expected to have an audience (conference participants are free to choose to attend any event).

What is the duration of format-free events, and when will they take place?

They can last 1.5 to 4.5 hours (with a coffee break). They will take place on Saturday 28th October, in the afternoon. Please check the general program of the conference here.

What type of activities can be organized under the “format-free events” category?

There is a great degree of flexibility about this modality or participation. Format-free events can be round tables, mini-courses, a dialogue of knowledge between different epistemic communities, debates, exchanges with policymakers and social movements, project meetings, workshops, artistic expressions, etc. Format-free events allow creative expression and dialogue, especially with non-academic social actors.

Do I need a group to organize a format-free event?

Not necessarily. Up to four people can organize a format-free event. Individuals can also propose one.

For whom is the student conference fee?

For undergraduate and Master’s students worldwide. Ph.D. candidates must pay the full fee (corresponding to their origin).

I am Colombian but doing a Ph.D. in Sweden. Do I have to pay the conference fee as a Colombian or a Swedish person?

You must pay the conference fee according to the country of your affiliation. In this case, you will pay the conference fee corresponding to Sweden.

Is it compulsory to record the presentation (after the acceptance of the abstract)?

Yes. This is a crucial innovation of the conference, with the objective of having more time for questions and answers and general discussion during the sessions.

Can I do voluntary work to support the organization of the conference?
